At Holway Park Primary School we have adopted a mastery curriculum that aims to teach the children the mathematical knowledge, skills and concepts that they need to know through a series of small steps through each unit and year. These small steps all link into bigger threads or concepts throughout our maths curriculum that children recap and revisit as they move through their primary school journey all the way from EYFS until the end of year 6.

Context:
Mathematics teaches children how to make sense of the world around them through developing their ability to calculate, reason and solve problems.
It is a core subject with a range of cross-curricular links but most often, is best taught discretely, using opportunities from other subjects to rehearse skills in a context.
Maths involves developing confidence and competence in number work; shape, space and measure; statistics and the application of these skills.
We aim to support children by equipping them with a range of computational skills and the ability to solve problems in a variety of contexts.
Use these websites to find out more about the maths that we teach at Holway Park Primary School. These websites have been created to support parents so that they can support their children with maths at home!
