Please note that parent/carer updates will now be available on the school website with the facility to translate them into different languages. Open website and go to Parents tab- parent-Carer Updates and then select the language with the button on top right hand side of website homepage.

Smart Watches

Reminder- smart watches are not allowed to be worn in school. Governors and our dedicated Safeguarding Leads would like to remind you that internet activated, photo activated and recordings activated devices are not allowed in the school unless they are school owned resources; these devices breach our safeguarding strategy. Children wearing such devices to school will have them checked out for these facilities and confiscated and returned to parents if they are found to have the capacity for these actions.

Attendance

Any queries regarding attendance please contact Angie Bristow to discuss.

Holway Park Community Primary School is committed to providing an education of the highest quality for all its pupils and recognises this can only be achieved by supporting and promoting excellent school attendance for all. This is based on the belief that only by attending school regularly and punctually will children and young people be able to take full advantage of the educational opportunities available to them. High attainment and progress depends on good and regular attendance.

Reminder

Parking

Several local residents have asked if I could remind parents about parking legally, safely and having consideration for local residents. Please do not park and block driveways and garages, if you cannot walk to school and have to drive please think about where you park. Highways have been informed about some issues that occurred, I really would not like to see parents receiving penalty notices.

Sun Cream and Sun Hats

Now we are enjoying the warmer weather can we ask parents to put sun cream onto their children before school please, this will still be effective for playtimes. Staff are unable to administer sun cream. Children are encouraged to wear sun hats outside. The only sun glasses allowed in school are prescription glasses that have special safe frames and lenses. Please avoid open toe sandals for children, they need to wear full shoes or sandals that will protect their feet, toes and toenails from injury.

School Uniform including PE Kit

A reminder that school uniform including the correct PE is an expectation, please check your child has the correct PE kit including plain black daps without logos. If you are not sure check the school website for the expected school uniform. We appreciate that January is a difficult month for everyone financially following Christmas so if you are experiencing difficulty purchasing the correct kit please contact Angie Bristow in confidence and she will see what she can do.

PTA

Please check the PTA Facebook page for details of upcoming events.

Curriculum Information

Please go to the Childrens Tab on the school website and click on knowledge Organisers- there you should find information about the areas of the curriculum in addition to Maths and Literacy that your child is learning about. If your child’s Spring Term knowledge Organiser is not there please email the class teacher to ask for a copy.

School Meals

We are very lucky here at Holway Park School to have a catering company based on site and parents do not have to order and pay up to half a term in advance, which is common across most schools. Rita has to follow the government food standards guidance when preparing menus and which foods can be served and how frequently they are allowed to be served. She will take into account allergies, food intolerances and religious diets BUT WILL NOT CHANGE MENUS BECAUSE YOUR CHILD DOES NOT LIKE A PARTICULAR FOOD. The menus are published several weeks in advance so if your child does not like what is on the menu you need to make alternative arrangements. There is always a vegetarian option available.
